Private setup
Keep your documents on your server, or on a computer you control.
Some teams cannot send their files to an outside service. Companion can run on a server you choose, or on a computer in your office. In that setup, your documents stay there. Reading them and answering from them happens on that machine. Nothing from those files is sent out.
- Your documentsPDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- CompanionReads, summarises and drafts for your review
- WhatsAppLessons, quizzes and forms
- YouResults and requests
Upload a PDF, Word, Excel or PowerPoint file. Companion reads it and drafts the lesson or form for you to review.
How it works
- 1
Say the files must stay with you
Tell us the documents cannot leave your side. This is a separate setup from a usual Companion workspace, and we arrange it with you.
- 2
Choose where it runs
Companion runs on a server you control, or on a computer in your office. Your files are stored there.
- 3
Your team asks as usual
People ask questions from those documents. The reading and the answers happen on that same machine.
- 4
Nothing is sent out
The documents are not sent to an outside service to be read or answered. They stay on the server or the computer you chose.
For your employees
- Answers from the documents your company keeps on its own side
- The source named, the same as in a usual workspace
- A clear stop when the documents do not say
For you
- A setup that runs on a server you control, or on a computer in your office
- Documents that stay there, and are not sent out to be read
- The same review of what people ask, kept with your files
- A usual Companion workspace if you do not need this
What to check before company files leave your side
Whatever tool you use, decide this before you upload a handbook, a price list or a client file.
- Name who is allowed to read the files, and who is not.
- Decide whether a file may leave your office or your server at all.
- If it may not, ask the provider to run on a machine you control.
- Ask what is stored, for how long, and who can export it.
- Keep a copy of the files yourself. Do not treat the tool as the only copy.
- Tell your team, in plain words, where their questions and the documents are kept.

Does every Companion workspace work this way?
No. A usual workspace is run for you. The private setup is for teams that need documents to stay on their own server or computer. Ask us and we arrange it.
Where do the documents live?
On a server you control, or on a computer in your office. They are not sent to an outside service to be read or answered.
Can the team still ask questions?
Yes. They ask from the same documents. The reading and the answers happen on the machine where the files are kept.
What if we do not need this?
Use a usual Companion workspace. Most teams do. The private setup is there when a team cannot let files leave.
